Friday Favorites : Apartment Edition

So now that moving is in full effect and I still have yet to get most of my furniture, I wanted to do a little before/after series on the blog every Friday. Although I don't have many photos of my place now I have a lot of ideas of things that need to be changed and revamped. Here are some of the things around the web that have been inspiring me. Pinterest is obviously has a plethora of photos to choose from, and I also love Elsie & Emma's series "At home with." I think what's been most inspiring for me is the fact that so many people do great things with the spaces they're given. The possibilities are endless, so when you get a whole place to yourself, you could go nuts! I am excited to share this journey and part of my life on the blog, as this is the first time I will be living completely on my own (no roommates-besides Oliver of course). 

I love the idea of a simple apartment, that has just enough kitchiness to it that catches the eye. I love all of my vintage pieces so thinking about incorporating those is pretty exciting. I keep dreaming of ways to show off my camera collection, and my new 1960's fan. What sites do you guys use for inspiration?

Dreaming Of Home Decor

I have been crazy obsessed with home decor lately, and I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because I know it's about that time when things start falling together, and I decide to take the plunge and move out. I really get inspired looking around websites like Terrain, Etsy, and Fab, and The Fancy, and through all of this I gather ideas for what I want my future home to look like. I really love the vintage feel (obviously) and I have been leaning towards a very "americana" style home when I picture it in my head. It's crazy how much furniture nowadays is inspired by vintage pieces. They still look modern, but the shape, or materials give it that perfect vintage feel. What websites do you guys use to find inspiration on furniture/home decor?

Happy Friday everyone. Today's post is just a jumble of all the things I am lusting over lately. This week flew by and I am feeling a bit under the weather. I hope you guys have an awesome weekend, and I hope you get nice weather where you are. Tomorrow is supposed to 59 degrees here!

Friday Is For Favorites

Dear Creatures has done it again with their autumn 2012 line. I am in love. Isn't every piece exquisite? Which is your favorite?

As we all know, I am a jewelry junkie and these brands/companies have me falling in love with large statement necklaces, big rings, druzy stones and of course spikes!

Thinking about moving has my head spinning with redesign ideas. I can't wait to have my own place so I can decorate, I have so many things I would love to try out.

Usually when I watch shows/movies, the one thing I focus on is the clothing. The era, the material, the patterns. Some may think that it takes away from what I am watching but in fact, it makes me enjoy it even more. One show I have always loved to watch is Boardwalk Empire. I really love that time period, and I really adore the colors & beading that went into everything. These are some of my favorite shots from the show. They all make me want to go on a huge shopping spree. When I think of the time during the prohibition all I can envision in my head are these underground speakeasies that were glamorous and unique. Whether or not they were glamorous I will never know but I still think there is something special about that time. Everything had more character, and the woman always looked so classy. I looked up some similar items on etsy and wanted to share them with you, because you can definitely find some great vintage items that are similar. When I have gone to the casinos(which isn't often) they are less than glamorous. As some of you may know Atlantic City is in NJ and sometimes we go there for special occasions, or just for fun. Usually I just sit on the slot machine and waste some money until I win a little bit of money, and then I lose it again. It's all fun, but I wish people dressed more like they did back then, then how they do now. Is there any show/movie that you love watching because of the different styles?  I really love the styling in Mad Men, and the movie Water For Elephants. Tell me your favorites I would love to check them out! 

Vintage Collections: Tooled Leather Handbags

I have started to notice there are certain things that are considered staples in vintage shopping..I think tooled handbags are a huge staple in vintage shopping, just as tapestry bags are. I am pretty sure I need every single one of these in my life. Nothing is more beautiful than the intricate designs etched into these bags. Although my collection is small, I would love to expand and include some of these lovely etsy finds. Which one is your favorite? Are there any vintage collections that interest you the most?

Mom & Pop Record Shop

 I really love shopping for records. Especially old used ones, they have this authentic feel and sound that cannot be recreated through CD's or itunes downloads. Tonight I went to see one of my favorite musicians debut her second album. This musician goes by the name of Nicole Atkins. She has the sultry crooner voice that reminds you of Roy Orbison mixed with the Ronettes and Judy Garland all in one. She is amazing. I suggest you give her a listen. I have met her numerous times but for some reason I always get nervous and child like each new time. I had a great time digging for records and listening to her play, two great things in one great location. The location is Vintage Vinyl, they sell used cd's/records but also new music as well. If you are in the central New Jersey area, I suggest you check it out, I got three awesome records for 11 bucks! My choices were Heart, Pat Benetar and Paul Simon Live. I am very pleased.

Go check out Nicole's New album, you will not regret it, she truly is one of a kind. 

And also give some love to your mom and pop record shop- we should be keeping places like this in business, they have the good music that isn't auto tuned and stuffed with techno.
