Little Tree Lately

Reading: Lots and lots of school books. I have also been reading through the index of the youth culture site for my internship at Fashion Snoops. There is so much that can constantly be learned, that I can't stop reading everything I get my hands on.

Watching: Can I please talk about the bachelor for a second. Tierra leaves, and then he kicks AshLee off? WHAT?! I can't even. I am dying to watch the season finale, but also sad too because my Mom and I watch that show together every Monday, looks like we're going to need a new show to add to the list.

Thinking about: My friends and my serious lack of time. Missing some of my best girlfriends that don't live close and wishing sometimes that I could just run over and give them a hug. I am looking forward to Spring/Summer and spending more time with my friends when things don't seem as hectic around these parts. I can't believe I graduate in 2.5 months.

Anticipating: My trip to New Orleans in a few weeks! Bill & I are already scoping out all of the great spots to eat/drink and of course we want to check out tourist attractions too, any suggestions would be great!

Wishing: Spring would get here already. I am really annoyed with Winter and I want it to be over. It's cold every single day and I almost blow over walking to class. Snow is great, but sunlight & heat are way better. This weather makes me want to take a serious nap. Wake me up when Spring is here.

Loving: These pretty little things I received in the post this week. And of course my flower crown.

Not sure if you guys have heard of Fair Ivy yet but they're an awesome company that works on handmade subscriptions every month that get mailed right to your door. Every month you receive 2-4 items that arrive wrapped so pretty and ready to be loved. It's pretty amazing to see how many handmade items they have, and if you have a chance, go check them out. Who doesn't love getting some handmade love in the mail a few times a month? A big thank you to Fair Ivy for sending me this adorable change purse by Dulcinas to review.

Thank you Danielle for inspiring these posts with your original series & thank you Vanny for the arrows!

Snaps & Updates

Hey guys! I am feeling very much under the weather today, so I just wanted to pop in and share some photos from Thanksgiving. Most of the weekend was spent doing my homework, and then of course today when my 10 page paper was due, the professor decided to cancel class...It actually worked out great because I wasn't really feeling up to going anyway. I usually get pretty sick once a year, and this might be it for me. Officially ran myself into the ground. Will I ever learn??

Also one more thing before I go. I was contacted by a lovely lady named Kellene who said I inspired her to help out for Hurricane Sandy relief. I had left her a comment a month back telling her how talented she was and how she should make some paintings of NJ and sell them to help aid those who were affected by the hurricane. She did such a beautiful job, and her paintings really are one of a kind. Please go check them out, and if you feel inclined, buy a painting to help the Red Cross aid in Sandy relief. Her shop is called The Lovely Little Day, and she has some beautiful pieces.

Tiny Reminders.

Sometimes all you need are little reminders.

For me, it's taking long walks, breathing the cold air into
my lungs, and standing in front of my favorite tree.

Also remembering that hard days accompany the good ones too. It's okay.

Cups of warm tea make those days easier.

And sometimes, Fridays are what we all need.

Have a great weekend.xo

Little Tree Lately

Reading: Sadly school books are the only thing I have time to read anymore. I have been buried in my textiles book and my math workbook as of late. As tedious as it is, I still love it, and it's so interesting to keep learning more and more. I can't hate it, even though sometimes I dread opening up the textbooks to study. I know in the end it's all going to help me become more knowledgeable and well rounded. I have also been spending a lot of time reading Women's Wear Daily. FIT offers free copies on campus but we also have full access to their site without a subscription which is awesome. It's the best way to stay connected with what's going on in the industry, they also have an Iphone app which works just as good, you should check it out!

Watching: Not having a lot of time to watch TV nowadays but I did get to watch an awesome documentary called Schmatta. It's all about the decline of the garment industry in NYC. Extremely interesting if you're a lover of fashion and storytelling, there's so much old footage of old New York, it's pretty amazing.

Thinking about: How much I need sleep yet I tend to stay up until about 2-3 in the morning doing work. I swear most of my best work comes in the middle of the night. I can function better when I know that I am not missing anything, during the day there's so many distractions...at night, it's just me and my computer.
Anticipating: HALLOWEEENIE. I just got my costume in the mail this week, and it's PERFECT! It's bright and obnoxious, and I look like a candy cane. It's only two weeks away too, it'll be here before you know it!

Wishing: I could skip school and work throw a backpack on and flee the country for a little while. I miss traveling so much, and I am already thinking about places I want to visit this year. The possibilities are endless and I definitely miss it like crazy. Once I get more time on my hands, it's the first thing I plan on doing..I don't care if I have to go alone, it's happening.

Feeling: Slightly overwhelmed but overall happy. Life is good, and I feel great. I am busting my butt in every possible way, but I finally feel like I am exactly where I need to be.

Thanks to Danielle for inspiring these posts with her original series.

Snaps: Asbury Park / Nicole Atkins

Last weekend I went to Asbury Park to see one of my favorite singers, Nicole Atkins perform at The Stone Pony. I have been a huge fan of hers for about five years now, and I have seen her multiple times at different places in NJ/NY. You may remember my post about the record shop last year where I saw her perform her new album live.

I hadn't really visited the boardwalk in a long time and although I have seen some shows at the convention center and the stone pony, I never really spent time on the boardwalk itself. I went with my cousin and her fiancee Jeremy and we did some shopping in the boutiques, ate some ice cream and walked around enjoying the weather. Once we got to the show it was hard to get pictures because  I'm not exactly the tallest person, but listening to her was enough for me.

She's one of the only singers that literally gives me chills every time she sings. She is so talented, and seeing her live always reinforces how much I love her music. She also played some of her new songs, that she had never played live before. It's also pretty cool that she's a NJ native, and Asbury is her home, it's always nice to hear someone perform in their hometown. If you'd like to hear some of her music you can check her out here.

Snaps: Hidden Shots

On a weekly basis I take A LOT of pictures. Almost too many to count sometimes. Sometimes even good photos don't make it to outfit posts because I don't want to overcrowd the post, the pictures still are nice regardless, but there's only so many angles you really need. If you recognize some of these outfits it's because they've already been up! I also love to take tons of pictures of my nephews and those are usually kept for personal use, but sometimes they make it on here as well. They do something cute every ten seconds, and it's so hard not to take my camera out every time and try to document it. They also love to jump into my outfit shots, which is usually pretty hysterical. Eddie loves it the most , he tells me all the time that one day he's going to be my "personal photographo."

Nature is also something I also really love to photograph. I love photographing plants, animals, insects, the sunrise/sunset, and of course the moon. It's really fascinating that the photos I take with the natural light hardly ever need to be retouched. Especially when I take pictures of my Mom's flowers, or the insects crawling around them. The world is a beautiful place, and sometimes there's little hidden things everywhere you look. The things you can't set up in a photo shoot. My favorite thing to do is just walk around the neighborhood taking pictures of random things. The other night I happened to be driving past my old elementary school around sunset. I looked over and saw how beautiful the sky was, and I was so thankful I had my camera with me. These are some of the randoms that have happened over the past few weeks. As for me, I am still in Minnesota enjoying myself, today we are going to valley fair to ride some rollercoasters! I hope you're all having a great week as well!
