Relieving Stress

Stress is never an easy thing to deal with. I feel like in today's society it has just become something we all deal with on a daily basis and learn how to cope with. I never considered myself a person who ever really knew how to deal with stress. I usually leave everything till the last minute and then I get overwhelmed with trying to finish everything at once. I started doing little things that help me personally combat stress and this is what I've come up with:

1. Try changing your attitude. See something good in everything. Exchange the negative for the positive and you'll see some great changes, even if they seem small.
2. Try to look at the big picture of things. "How important is this?" and "Will it matter in the long run?" Chances are you're stressed about things that may not have a huge impact on you right now. Take one day at a time.
3.  Make a list, and try to do one thing at a time. Once you start crossing things off your list you'll feel accomplished and better about what you've done so far. It's harder to do 20 things at once, so instead take your time and give yourself time to accomplish everything.
4. Try to find something you love to do, and incorporate that into your every day life. Even if it's something small, just find time to do it. Sometimes all you need is five minutes of laying down and breathing to realign yourself. For me, I usually stop everything I'm doing, play one of my favorite songs and lay down for a minute or two with my eyes closed.

  4. You're so right! I love this reminder to live in the moment and think of the bigger picture.

I once watched an interview of a 90 year old man who says he can't remember what he worried about when he was in his 20's and 30's! Keeps things in perspective. XO
