Flowers For Days

I think my favorite thing to do lately is just take walks around my neighborhood and look at all the pretty trees blooming. My favorite colors are the ones that are beige & pink, but sadly the petals fall quickly after they bloom. After the long week all I wanted to do was lounge around and enjoy the slightly warm weather. Last week going into this weekend feels like one big long week that never wanted to end, especially with everything going on in the news. I had a knot in my stomach all week from reading the headlines and following the Boston Bombing story pretty closely. It was also crazy being in the city and seeing all of the security measures being taken, it definitely makes you appreciate those in law enforcement who work hard to keep us all safe everyday.

While I don't want to get into the topic much, I did want to touch upon it, because it's real life and it did happen. Frankly, I am happy it's over, and I feel so much heartache for those who were involved, or injured. Situations like this make you realize how fragile life can be, and how important it is to use every moment to spread love and diminish hate. Unfortunately there will always be hate in the world, that's not something that goes away, but what gives me hope is seeing how people respond to the madness, and how connected everyone is, even though we're all going through it and processing it differently. Seeing people from the street help the victims, and first responders makes me feel lucky to live in a country that can come together, even when things seem hopeless and lost.

The only thing I can say is that I hope one day when I bring kids into this world, that I don't have to shield them from everything because things have gotten too out of hand. I want them to grow up in a world that is surrounded by love and not hate. I don't want them to grow up being afraid of going to the movies, attending a race, or even going to school. I also want to show them how important it is to be a good person and always share love in any way that they can. With everything going on in the news lately it's hard to have hope for these things but all we can do is take it one day at a time, and pray for the people who need it the most.

  2. Beautiful photos. Those blossoms are gooorgeous. Your outfit is too cute. This week was a tough one for sure. I feel the same way about worrying about bringing kids into the world we're living in... and even though such terrible things happen and there is so much hate, there is still an abundant amount of beauty and joy around us. Weeks like this make you think a lot.
