Keeping Resolutions : Making A House, A Home

I have been working pretty hard to make my place feel like home since I moved in. Slowly but surely, it's been happening, but of course you can only do so much at once. Most of my free time is spent shopping for artwork, or looking for things that fit my sense of style, and overall it's really starting to feel like a comforting place for me. I look forward to coming home, and seeing everything the way I laid it out, even the decorating. It's really exciting to be able to have full creative control.

As I have mentioned earlier , I am waiting a little before I give a real of each room because I am still buying things as I go. One of my resolutions this year is to fix up this little place and make it mine. To fix everything that needs to be fixed, and put up some fresh paint + love, and watch it all take form.

All of the pieces pictured are from Marshalls. It's amazing how different each piece is, and how it all fits together so nicely. I recently bought my coffee table and I really love how the style of my love for vintage comes through. Marshalls is my one stop shop for everything home related. I can go in and get everything I need, and not have to make 20 stops at different stores. I love that I can find so many different things there, and that they're all one of a kind and different. You'll never see the same thing twice, and it's pretty cool to build around that.

I hope you guys like this little peek into my home, I can't wait to show more as I go. It's been really fun for me being able to express this side of me creatively. One of the last renovations I need to make is painting my office/studio and this is probably the biggest project so far. I will definitely keep you guys in the loop, hope your Monday is going great!

Disclosure: I have received free products or value from Marshalls or The TJX Companies, Inc. in connection with my affiliation with Marshalls Project FAB.

The Moment We've All Been Waiting For

Some of you may have seen on twitter that my Mom played a little prank on me yesterday. I have been anxiously waiting for this piece of mail for about two weeks now. Every day I would run home and check the mailbox hoping that something would be there for me. I sent a text to my Mom while at work asking if anything from FIT came in the mail...She responded saying "Oh yeah it did, it says congratulations, you got it?" I immediately got confused, and questioned whether or not she was messing with me. A few seconds later she did the old "April Fools!" thing, and I went back to wallow in my misery. I was mad, but I did think it was a pretty good joke...I left work a few hours later and got home to a house full of noise & laughter(which is extremely typical in my house). My nephew Eddie ran up to me and says "NONA, I have a surprise for YOOUUUUU" and then he pulls out the envelope, that actually says "CONGRATULATIONS" on the front!

I can't really explain how I felt opening it, it was a pretty amazing feeling..and I won't lie, tears actually started to fill up my eyes. I can finally say that I feel like I am finally finding my way to where I need to be. I feel like all of my hard work will soon pay off, and I will be able to follow my dreams. That uncertainty that was inside of me, is starting to fade, and I feel great. The past year has been tough in the sense that I have felt really out of place in my career. As you all know I have been going back and forth about so many things. I feel like I finally found a place where I belong and I can't wait to see where my life takes me. Everything inside me changed yesterday, and every day from here on out will be different. I will keep growing, and learning, and ultimately becoming the person that I aspire to be. I also can't wait to document my journey! It's going to be a fun adventure, and I plan on keeping you all posted on what's going on.
