Healthy Snacks & Favorite Movies

You know that feeling of rushing to the store to get your favorite movie? I still love doing that! I rushed to Walmart to get Pitch Perfect Two and couldn't wait to have a girls night to watch it with my friends. As I get older "girls nights" are few and far between. We're all so busy living our lives, so catching up is extremely important. I love hosting fun nights, especially when a  good movie is involved.

Since healthy eating is so important to me, I make sure that I create the healthiest snacks for us! I like to make a few different dishes so that way every one has a choice of food to eat. One of our favorite go to easy snacks is steamed edamame with roasted almonds.

Between all of us, we're usually snacking the whole time- but when it's something healthy you definitely don't feel bad polishing the bowl off!

This appetizer is extremely easy to make, and will be an awesome snack during the movie.

Purchase edamame, and steam for approximately 4 minutes on the stove. Salt to taste, and then add the roasted sliced almonds. I usually purchase the almonds pre-sliced, and then roast them in the over for about 20 minutes. I love the crunch it adds to the edamame, and it's a great combination of flavors.

I really loved this movie, and the first one is one of my favorites too. I wish I could sing like these girls, and I definitely wish I could dance like them too. My favorite character is Amy mainly because she is hysterical, and pretty much makes the movie the best.

If you want your own copy-head to Walmart to grab the exclusive Pitch Perfect Blu-Ray/Soundtrack combo pack. Soundtrack includes some of your favorite songs from Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2 (while supplies last).

Midnight In Paris

"I don't get here often enough, that's the problem. Can you picture how drop dead gorgeous this city is in the rain? Imagine this town in the '20s. Paris in the '20s, in the rain. The artists and writers!"

For those of you who have not seen Midnight In Paris you are surely missing out. Although it took me three full tries to finally finish the movie(I have a problem not falling asleep when my body hits a couch) I truly enjoyed it. For those of you who know me well there is one place in the world I would love to be, and that is Paris. When I visited Paris a few years ago I fell in love with the city and everything in it. Not only do I love Paris, but I also am obsessed with learning French, I have probably been saying since I got back, and yet I have never followed through with it.

Anyway, back to the movie. The main character [Gil] is obsessed with different eras and times of the past. Throughout the movie I completely saw myself in this character, especially when he spoke of Paris in the 20's, and how he would love to walk around in the rain. Gil found himself most comfortable in these different eras and times. It reminded me of myself for a few reasons:

1. I would love to be in Paris during the 20's.
2. I definitely picture myself being born an old soul
and feeling like I should have been born in another era.
3. The whole hopeless romantic thing-loving cities in the rain-thing.

The movie is lovely, and if you feel like you long for past eras, then you will definitely love this movie. Besides the reasons listed above, I also love the style in the movie. Since the movie shows different eras they also show the fashion during that era, and it's so inspiring and beautiful. Give it a chance, and report back, I promise you will not be disappointed!

"Nostalgia is denial - denial of the painful present... the name for this denial is golden age thinking - the erroneous notion that a different time period is better than the one ones living in - its a flaw in the romantic imagination of those people who find it difficult to cope with the present."
