DIY Accent Patio Pillows -- With Rust-Oleum® NeverWet

Hey guys! Today I am going to be sharing a fun little DIY with you, and again I am partnering up with  Rust-Oleum®! This time around I am showcasing some of my new front patio furniture, and how I used the Rust-Oleum® NeverWet TM Outdoor Fabric Water Repelling Treatment, to make sure that it continues to stay nice and dry despite the crazy weather we've been having!

My front patio furniture has come in handy so much this summer. It's the perfect place to sit with my friends, family, or Oliver when  I want to sit and relax. I bought this furniture not too long ago, and even though it came with two standard pillows, I wanted something a little more bright and unique. I decided that I was going to make small accent pillows to brighten up my front space.

My Mom is a genius with a sewing machine, so she helped me with this project, and taught me some of her fancy tricks. It was really nice getting to bond with her during the making of these little pillows. We had such a blast.

Here are some easy directions, you can also google how to make a pillow, and you'll see a lot of different kinds of pillows are easy to make! Who knew!

Directions:
These two pillows are sized 12 inches on both sides so you want to cut the fabric slightly bigger since you're going to be folding it in to sew it. 12.5 inches should be the length on both sides prior to sewing.

Place one piece of fabric on a table, right-side up. Set the other piece of fabric on top of the first, right-side down. (This shouldn't matter if your pillow is white like mine, but for patterns, keep this in mind). Pin the fabrics together on all 4 sides.

Stitch the fabrics together along the 4 edges, .5 inch  from the edge. Leave a small gap on one side of the accent pillow for turning it right-side out and stuffing it.

Use enough stuffing until your pillow is slightly firm, but soft!

The most important part of this project for me, was remembering to use my Rust-Oleum® NeverWet TM Outdoor Fabric Water Repelling Treatment. Keeping patio furniture outside with fabric cushions, is always a huge pain if you don't use the right product to protect it.

The directions are really easy to follow and you'll only have to use it once, which is awesome! Basically, you want to use it in a well ventilated area (outside) and spray about 12-16" from the surface coating entire object until wet. It repels water, it's breathable, leaves no odor and provides invisible protection, so you never know it's there!

I can now leave my cute little patio furniture and accent pillows outside and no matter what kind of weather is among us, I know it'll be safe :)

Rust-Oleum®’s NeverWet® contains breakthrough technology that protects virtually any surfaces with a superhydrophic treatment that dramatically repels water, mud, ice and other liquids.
