A Little Trip To Lake George

A few weeks ago Bill and I ventured off to Lake George, and looking at these pictures already makes me want to go back! We decided to go for a relaxing weekend and to get away from NJ for a while, but we didn't realize how desolate Lake George would actually be. The town itself was literally shut down, and it's not in season right now until about May. We stayed at the Lodges at Cresthaven and honestly I have never stayed at such a beautiful place. Everything was rustic, and the whole condo we stayed in was made in wood from top to bottom. EVEN THE MOLDING ON THE WALLS. It was crazy.

Since Lake George was not really "up and running" like in the summertime, we took a drive to Saratoga Springs for some window shopping and for dinner. I absolutely loved it. It was so cute and quaint. Not to mention the streets were decorated for the holidays, so everything was all lit up and colorful. We also did some outlet shopping , mainly because there wasn't much around that was open. Even though it was the off season, there's something really great about being in a town where everything and everyone is hibernating. It's a nice reminder to unplug and do nothing. We ate breakfast both mornings at this little place called the Bank Cafe. It was converted into a coffee shop but originally it was a bank, their tiny gift shop actually used to be a volt, the door is still in tact! It was really cute, and if you follow me on instagram (@littletreevtg) you probably saw some of the breakfast we ate there.

Our last night on Lake George consisted of me panicking because I heard what sounded like a canon over the Lake late at night. We looked outside to find that someone was setting off fireworks. It was one of the most beautiful nights, it had just snowed, and it was completely quiet, and perfect for a private fireworks show. They sounded even louder from the echo of the mountains behind the Lake. It ended the trip on a great note. Have you guys ever been to Lake George? If so what was your favorite thing to do? We're already talking about making a summer trip back when things are in season. Any recommendations?

  3. Lake George is amazing! Paul's parents have a place up there so we're constantly bombarding them with "surprise" visits whenever we can. haha. If you are into camping, I highly suggest camping for a couple days on LG's "Long Island" during the summer.

  21. I actually grew up halfway between Lake George and Saratoga! It was such a great place to be a teenager - my summers were spent working at a t shirt shop and visiting my friends who worked at the arcades. I actually got married on the lake, at an awesome place called Canoe Island Lodge. Probably worth a visit in the summer!
